How to succeed in recruitment interviews without fail? What are the mistakes to avoid? What tips should you follow to succeed in your recruitment interview as a Manager?

Talking as equals: conversation mode activated!
A prerequisite: talk on equal terms. Beyond just a candidate, it is the best way to connect and understand a person. As a manager, be yourself, make them want to join you but don't overdo it, smile, and spend more time listening and following up than talking yourself. Simple to say, but do you really do it?

Ace your recruitment interviews in 5 steps!

1/ Welcome and put the candidates at ease, present the process
Welcome them, offer a coffee or tea, and simply ask how they are doing. Easy tip: feel free to give a tour of the premises; it helps break the ice and lets both sides get a feel for the atmosphere.

2/ Introduce yourself in 5 minutes (as a manager and as a team) and then ask the candidate to do the same.
The opportunity to see if your candidate can pitch effectively, what their concrete results are, and to better identify their strengths and skills. Focus the conversation and discussion on the position. Avoid being too lecturing; you are there to get to know each other and see if you can work together on a daily basis. Dig into skills, ask for concrete evidence, and analyze interpersonal skills while maintaining a peer-to-peer exchange. Avoid taking too many notes on your computer, as this can unsettle the candidate.

Conduct an immediate debrief and provide visibility on the next steps
Your application is interesting on this and that point and discussing with the candidate). If you think that the candidate does not match, tell them right away? The more transparent you are, the better the candidate experience will be. Example: we are seeing 3 candidates within 2 weeks, the process will be followed by an interview with Name and title.

4/ Ask the candidate for cold feedback via a written summary (10 lines)
This allows for a written, delayed feedback and provides more details regarding spelling.

5/ Number of interviews and duration?
A 1-hour interview, if properly prepared, is enough. Don't hesitate to group your recruitment interviews (2 to 3 in a half-day) and write a summary yourself after each interview, based on the job offer that will have been carefully defined as a team or with a recruitment agency, why not?

Lorsqu’on manage, sait-on recruter ?
